Martyna Blaszczyk's Photo Journal of the Art Camp in August, 2010

Zero Capital Arts and Border Statements organized the art camp in collaboration with Banyang elementary school in August, 2010 in Ruili city, Yunnan, China. During the two week art camp, 8 volunteers from several different countries conducted the art workshop to over forty Jingpo, Dai and Lisu youth ages 7-16. The volunteer teachers co-taught with local teachers and out-of-school youth in the village, working towards an integration of creative activities into the academic curriculum. 

Part One: Dying Fabric, Ladder Making and Fashion Show

Fu Guosheng taught kids to dye fabric with local vegetables and fruits. After being dyed into different bright colors, the fabric was made into a ladder and hung over a tree in the elementary school. Later, kids did a fashion show with colored fabric on each one of them.
